Ferté-Saint-Aubin
Very interesting castle built in 16th and 17th century 21 km S from Orleans. Needs some repairs, but this was the castle with most life in it from all of this trip - true live animals for instance (no plastic statues with sound recordings as at some other places), usable historic kitchen with demonstration, etc.
There is also a small train station with historic trains.

Mont Saint Michel
Breathtaking. Church, abbey, medieval village... Its history started in 8th century... If you go to this area it is a must. A bit too touristy (heaps of souvenir shops, restaurants etc; thousands of visitors daily), but really a great place. My favourite from this trip. And there are really no cars - no permission could work ;o)
